Production: 156 dozen / 375ml bottles

Colour: Pale straw.

Bouquet: Golden delicious apples and Nashi pears jump from the glass with hints of dried pineapple and sultana.

Palate: Ripe golden kiwifruits and pineapples make this a very fruit intense wine. Classic appley Chenin characters have created this fresh clean dessert style with crisp cleansing acidity to balance the sweetness. The wine finishes long and bright and will develop beautifully with more time in the bottle.

Review: “Another brilliant example of the versatility of this variety. It’s been cane cut to allow the bunches to dry and concentrate the sugars. It’s thoroughly delicious with its floral, green apple and citrus on the nose and then the luscious mix of cumquat, lemon tart and a hint of pineapple. If you want just a little sweetness with a crisp finishing clean acid, then this is right on the money:”

Vinification: At optimum flavour ripeness the cane is cut at the base of the shoot, allowing the bunches to dry out. This concentrates the sugars and flavours in the berries resulting in a luscious dessert wine. The canes were cut on March 25th and grapes were handpicked four weeks later on April 30th.

The grapes were pressed in a pneumatic press, fermented in a stainless tank and matured for five months in old French oak, then bottled in December 2022.

Vintage 2022  9/10: After coming off a very wet winter above average for the first time in many years this pushed the bud break back around 10 days. Spring sprung and a few more rain falls kept soil moisture levels high and diligent timely spraying of organic fungicides were necessary. Summer came in Hot especially over Christmas and New Year with 3 days over 40c unheard of in Margaret River. The vines were freshened with irrigation and flowering and fruit set was about average. Ripening conditions were perfect allowing grapes to develop lovely flavours and intensity. A great Marri flowering kept the grapes free from birds, however vines were still netted.  Harvesting was done in bright sunshine and dry conditions an absolute magic vintage.
