Welcome to Cape Grace

One of the Great Little Wineries

A small family owned and operated vineyard, winery and cellar door, planted in 1996 by Robert & Karen Karri-Davies. Cape Grace’s handcrafted, single vineyard wines are generous with the flavour and characters of our unique Wilyabrup sub-region. The vineyard is managed under sustainable principles and traditional wine making techniques are used, with our reds gently hand plunged and basket pressed. With depth, style and character our wines display a sense of place and season and have earned an impressive array of medals, reviews and followers over the years.

Discover one of Margaret River’s Great Little Wineries when you visit the authentic, rustic tin-shed-in-the-forest winery. During spring you can delight in the magnificent display of wildflowers.

Our Winemaking Philosophy is a simple one – let our special vineyard site, located in the heart of the unique Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, speak for its self through our single vineyard, sustainably grown, pristine fruit.

By gently guiding the winemaking process we allow our grape varieties to express the characteristics for which they are loved, along with the nuances imparted by the season. This combined with the use of traditional winemaking techniques and minimal interference allow us to produce wines that are in balance and harmony whilst showcasing the characteristics captured by variety, vintage and our special vineyard site. Cape Grace really is one of the great little wineries!

We are a small but passionate team, entrusted with these ancient soils, guiding the fruits of our labours from vine to bottle. We enjoy sharing our passion for our special vineyard site at the Cellar Door, where you will often find Karen, the owner, explaining the nuances of our new releases. Conrad, our winemaker, is not only hands on in the vineyard and winery but also helps out in the Cellar Door and is more than happy to explain the intricacies of winemaking.  If you would like more background information our wonderful team head over to “Our Story”.

Cape Grace really is one of the great little wineries!

Open daily from 10am to 5pm, you will meet Karen or one of the team and gain some insights into the joys of being a small winemaker. Our new releases are available for tasting and if you are lucky you may just chance something special, such as a museum release. Robert also has a selection of photographs, paintings and paraphernalia on display. We also welcome your well behaved fur babies on leads.

We look forward to your visit and you can check out the view from our Cellar Door over at “Our Story”.

Established in 1996, the Cape Grace vineyard lies in the Wilyabrup sub region of the Margaret River Wine region, the jewel in the so called regional crown and as such was the site on which Dr Tom Cullity originally wanted to establish Vasse Felix, thankfully for us the farm was not for sale and the rest as they say is history.

Every vineyard is unique, with regards to the relationship between soil and climate and there is an old saying, “Great wines are created in the vineyard. With this in mind our vineyard is managed sustainably with total respect for the relationship between the soil health, and vitality and the correlation to vine nutrition and fruit production. You will find more with regard to our approach to viticulture under “Our Story”.

The region has a reputation for producing wines with delightful individual fruit character that bring forth the sense of place for one of the most enchanting environments on earth and is filled with an amazing diversity of attractions and activities.

A natural beauty, the region is a treasure trove of native fauna including kangaroos, possums and bird life residing in the towering karri forests, magnificent caves, world class surf, coastal heaths and carpets of seasonal wildflowers.

We are part of a drive trail that incorporates all of the wonderful things in our neighbourhood, the “Cowaramup Harvest and Vines Trail” and you can plan your trip at driveyourstory.com

We are blessed to live in such a special part of the world and you can find our more about our piece of paradise over at “Our Story”
