Colour: Deep inky crimson.

Bouquet: Raspberries and blueberries are highlights with underlying star anise notes.

Palate: Lovely syrupy berry fruits and mulberry flavours join forces with luscious velvety tannins. Hints of vanilla bean and clove to finish. A complete wine showing judicious use of oak and beautiful fruit expression that will keep on evolving for years to come.

"This small batch production is always one of my favourites. It's made in traditional fashion with open fermentation and hand plunging which suits the soft red fruits. The palate is medium bodied but with beautiful blackberry and subtle blue fruits with a trace of mulberry. Such a vibrant and vital wine ideal in the short term but with some ageing potential."

2022 Vintage Rating 9/10:  After coming off a very wet winter above average for the first time in many years this pushed the bud break back around 10 days. Spring sprung and a few more rain falls kept soil moisture levels high and diligent timely spraying of organic fungicides were necessary. Summer came in Hot especially over Christmas and New Year with 3 days over 40c unheard of in Margaret River. The vines were freshened with irrigation and flowering and fruit set was about average. Ripening conditions were perfect allowing grapes to develop lovely flavours and intensity. A great Marri flowering kept the grapes free from birds, however vines were still netted.  Harvesting was done in bright sunshine and dry conditions an absolute magic vintage
