2024 Chardonnay

“Continuing the excellent line of Chardonnays produced from this terrific producer…the oak influence is important and significant, and yet it doesn’t overload, allowing the beautiful mix of butterscotch and peach characters, with their lifted florals to emerge. Has a slightly subtle toasty mineral character on the palate, which is quite textured and rich, but presented with a restrained medium body. It’s a lovely wine.” 93 Points, Ray Jordan

Awards & Reviews: “Continuing the excellent line of chardonnays produced from this terrific producer in Margaret

River. In this case, it was barrel fermented, and then it got 33% in new French oak. So, the oak influence

is important and significant, and yet it doesn’t overload, allowing the beautiful mix of butterscotch and

peach characters, with their lifted florals to emerge. Has a slightly subtle toasty mineral character on the

palate, which is quite textured and rich, but presented with a restrained medium body. It’s a lovely wine,

drinking beautifully now, but it will continue to evolve over the next eight or nine years.” 93 Points, Ray Jordan

“Full, bright yellow colour; smoky reductive aromas overlying smoked charcuterie, buttered toast and gunflint, the palate rich and full-bodied, with delicious fruit sweetness and opulence. Long finish with plenty of glycerol in the texture. Lots to like here.” 92 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review

Vinification: Gently pressed directly to the new oak barrels with the balance of the free run juice

homogenized and sent straight to barrel. The juice was wild fermented with full juice solids in barrel. The

barrels were stirred weekly after fermentation for 2 months then monthly till bottling. 40% new French

oak and matured for 9 months before blending and bottling in November 2024.

Viticulture: Our vineyard is farmed using sustainable biological principals. No use of herbacides and

creating biodiversity through multi specie cover crops. Canopy management is vital, hedging, leaf plucking

and fruit thinning are used to control exposure to sunlight, increase airflow and further our effort to

deliver perfectly ripe, balanced grapes to the winery.

2024 Vintage 9/10: After a dryer than average winter in 2023 the vines started growing 2 weeks earlier

than normal in September. This set the stage for an early harvest and coincided with the hottest driest

summer on record with 6 months without a drop. The vines were generously irrigated to improve quality

thru days over 35c and the fruit was clean as a whistle. Harvest commenced 4 weeks earlier than average.

An amazing Marri blossom kept the birds off the vines and netting was hardly needed. The resulting

wines are very fruit intense with generous weight and structure. Fruit is exceptional.
