Colour: Pale Straw with green flecks.Bouquet: Tropical fruit salad in a glass! Pawpaw, guava, pineapple and feijoa all jump out of the glass.Palate: Fruit driven in style with kiwifruit and crisp green apples at the forefront. Underlying tropical notes of pawpaw and pineapple sneak through. Complex nuances from a small portion of wild barrel ferment give texture and weight to this fruit dense wine.
Winemakers Note: This Chenin Blanc is made as a tank fermented, dry style and a little wild ferment in older wine barrels. CRISP DRY FRESH sums up this beautifully balanced wine. Ideal with seafood, spicy Asian dishes or on its own with sunshine and good company. May be cellared to develop more complexity.
Awards and Reviews:
New Release November 2023
Vinification: The grapes were picked in the cool of the early morning to retain the delicate flavour profile. Pressed immediately with free run and pressings juice kept separate. The juice was settled before being inoculated with an aromatic yeast, 20% was barrel fermented.
Vintage 2023 9/10: Winter was cool and long here in Margret River with even a few frosts that are very rare. This helped with dormancy and pruning could be done in a timely manner. It stayed cool all the way through till the end of November pushing budbreak and flowering back up to 3 weeks on last year. By the end of November the weather was perfect without a drop of rain till 3rd of March. Warm but not hot conditions with temperatures around 30 degrees helped things catch up from the late spring. No Marri blossom has meant there were a lot of nets on and off protecting fruit from birds as it ripens. Yields were higher than the previous two vintages and the overall quality of fruit is exceptional.
