Cabernet Sauvignon

2008 Tasting Notes
Cape Grace's flagship wine! Spicy blackcurrant and cassis aromas, with fine grained tannins show the class of this Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. Basket pressed and hand plunged to enhance the classic Wilyabrup character. Expressive fruit is supported by good structure, fine texture and subtle complexity. Matured in French barriques for 12 months and aged in the bottle for another 12 months, providing up to 10 years cellaring or for immediate enjoyment.
"2008 Cabernet Sauvignon "I like the previous cabernet vintage from these guys but this one shows perhaps slightly more elegance and refinement, while losing nothing in palate intensity and power. It is classically long and controlled on the palate with ripe firm tannin, threaded deep into the intense fruit concentration. Beautifully seductive aromas of blackcurrant and chocolate with a light touch of cedar and spice. Outstanding." 96/100 Ray Jordan
"Clear purple-crimson; an elegant wine, reflecting open fermentation, hand-plunging, basket-pressing and maturation in French oak; delicious blackcurrant and cedar flavours are in no way compromised by what are almost silky tannins. 94/100 Cellar to 2023" James Halliday
"This is a substantial cabernet showing the classic cassis characteristics together with a suggestion of leaf. The oak support is well judged and the firm tannins extend an already-long finish." Winewise
